Ingredients:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup bread flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 and 1/4 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, bread flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast.
- Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients, and mix until well combined.
- Knead the dough for about 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and knead it again briefly, then shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the pan with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until it has risen just above the top of the pan.
- Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the bread from the oven, and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
