White bread

Wheat Bread Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 and 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, bread flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients, and mix until well combined.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and knead it again briefly, then shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover the pan with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until it has risen just above the top of the pan.
  8. Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Remove the bread from the oven, and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
